OURSELVES INTRODUCTION


Assalamualaikum and very good morning to the readers . 

We are semester 1 students from Kolej Profesional MARA (KPM) Bandar Penawar in Programme Diploma Integrated Logistics Management .

This blog purpose is to fulfill our Supply Chain assignment to make a blog and study about the background of one of the logistics company in Malaysia and to have an interview sessions with their staff organizations . For our group we decided to choose Kuehne + Nagel as our reference .

It was founded in 1890 in Bremen , Germany by August Kuehne and Friedrich Nagel
Since 1890 the company has grown into one of the world's leading logistics providers . Today Kuehne + Nagel Group has more than 1300 offices in over 100 countries with over 70000 employees . Kuehne Nagel branch in Malaysia is in Bukit Jelutong , Shah Alam .

INTERVIEW SESSION

Interview Session


Our logistics assignment wanna us to study about company structure based on :


      1. Specify the strategies and planning that have Kuehne + Nagel implemented ?

       Our core business is logistics which include freight and also warehousing .
       To be sustain in the market we need to have
  • a good business ethic
  •  understand market situation 
  • a good rapport with customers , 
  • nevertheless a good leader to lead the team 
   
    2. How the company manage their inventory ?
  • Kuehne + Nagel  has their own warehouse management system which called as CIEL
  • They use CIEL for order processing , inventory monitoring and update, transaction history and others
  • This system was designed specifically for Kuehne Nagel
  • They are able to track all inventory records from the system and provide any reports or queries which asked or requested by customers by using this system

   3. Describe the order processing process for the goods being purchased ?
  • When there is requirement to purchase any material, they will process it through their own system which call ACON New for raising the purchase order . 
  • Once order processing is raised with approval by head of department, a copy of order processing will be pass to the appointed vendor for next step of goods delivery . 
  • Once goods received, payment will be prepare for the vendors .

    
    4. The company manages the movement of their goods with :
  •  Delivery of goods to customers are normally either arranged by them or their own customer. 
  •  They will engaged few trucking companies to handle their deliveries.
  • The trucking companies will provide the best rates and after they agreed to the rates, they will enroll them under their registered supplier list
  •  Once the service required, they will make a booking via phone call and mails for the confirmation and details
  • The supplier will provide them their invoice upon completion of the jobs

   5. Describe how the Kuehne + Nagel providing the IT solutions to improve visibility control of product and information throughout the supply chain ?
  • IT role in supply chain is to establish an effective management system from inventory , order management , customer relation management (CRM) and reporting system , including some manufacturing element across multiple location . 
  • Add multiple users with variable permissions , create work order , track inventory level , prepare sales and purchase order , sales quotes , handle inbound , outbond goods and bill of material (BOM) .
  • This will help to ensure smooth running of entire supply chain operation . 
  
 6. What are the companies that use Kuehne+Nagel services as their carrier agent ?
      
       The companies that use Kuehne + Nagel services to move their inventory are Lexmark, Henkel , Clarion , Siemen , GSK and Nokia . 



Lexmark is laser printer and imaging products company .

Henkel is German chemical and consumer goods company .


Clarion is Japanese company for manufacturer of car audio, automotive navigation systems, AutoPCs, visual equipment, bus equipment, and communication equipment . 



 GSK is British pharmaceutical company .
